Passover

We celebrated the first night of Passover with our MHOP family here in our home on Saturday evening, April 23. We had 27 people here and had a wonderful time recalling the mighty works of God. We began by painting grape juice (representing the blood of Yeshua) on the doorposts of our home, as a reenactment of the first Passover.

This happened to be the first Passover we can remember when it snowed. (Just a few flakes – no snowball fights!)

Inside, we had a wonderful seder (Passover service), which always points to both the exodus (prototype redemption) from Egypt, and the redemption of our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus). We sang some of our favorite Passover classics, such as Passover Lamb, Eliyahu HaNavi, and Dayenu (some of them with the lyrics edited to include our Messiah). And we had a delicious Passover dinner!

Afterwards, we have a time when we wash each other’s feet (for those who want to), in memory of what Yeshua did after His last Passover here on earth. And we had the pleasure of hearing some violin and piano pieces from some of the talented young people among us (including classical arrangements of hymns, Sibelius, Rachmaninoff, and Piezconka).

Peoria Homeschool Conference

We have been attending Association of Peoria Area Christian Home Educators (APACHE) homeschool conference for the past several years. Each time, we are encouraged and inspired by the selection of speakers at this well-planned event, held in the Peoria Civic Center. The conference this April (featuring Jeff Myers and Kent Hovind as keynote speakers) was no exception.

A special blessing was meeting the Mally family, authors of the book Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends (which we highly recommend!). Also, we gave copies of our book, Enjoying Your Children, to several vendors, and were encouraged by their positive receptions.
