“Update, Sunday, March 26, 2006.”

Please pray for Benyamin Netanyahu to be elected Prime Minister in Israel’s elections this Tuesday, March 28! The Elijah Prayer Army, and others (for example, in the Jerusalem Post), recommend that all of us pray that Benyamin Netanyahu be elected and have a second chance as prime minister. He is the only candidate who would protect Judea Samaria and East Jerusalem from being given away and becoming a terrorist “Hamastan” right next to (really, inside) Israel.

I included a summary, below, which is a recent e-mail on the elections (I added some prayer points at the bottom from their latest e-mail this morning).

Israel needs a government that will protect the people and the Biblical land, as well as protect freedom and the right to housing and livelihood for the believers there.

Please also pray for an effective response from Israel and America to the Iranian nuclear weapons program. This probably requires a military attack on the installations.

Pray for protection from the bird flu in Israel. It has been detected in Israeli and Jordanian flocks, and pray for protection for the populace. Furthermore, it could devastate the poultry industry in Israel just before Passover, when many families need poultry for their Seder meals. Pray for effective countermeasures and protection for the public.

Pray for revival and spreading of the Gospel throughout Israel.

If you would like, please see the pictures from our recent home fellowship celebration of Purim at www.amhehome.org/blog.

Thanks for praying, thanks for caring!

Shalom -
David

Prayer Alert 06-12, March 24, 2006

Prayer Topics This Week:
• Four Days Left to the Israeli Elections

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." (1 Tim 2:1-4)

We are now only four days away from the Israeli elections on March 28, and we want to give all of you an update and encourage you to pray for this important event.

The Kadima party, that former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon started on a platform to execute more Israeli withdrawals from Judea and Samaria, is projected to win the elections, but the outcome is by no means certain.

Ehud Olmert, who presently is acting as Prime Minister after Sharon's departure from the political scene, has declared that he will fulfill Sharon's political goals and withdraw from more land in Judea and Samaria, attempting to eventually establish permanent borders for Israel. Meanwhile Hamas, who refuses to accept Israel's right to exist, has won a landslide victory in the Palestinian elections.

Hamas' leader Kahled Mash'al said in his recent speech in Damascus, " Today [Israel has] frail leaders, who don't even know where our lord placed them. Allah willing, we will make them lose their eyesight, we will make them lose their brains." This is a statement that needs an explanation. The Koran actually says that Allah has given the Promised Land to the Jews. According to Muslim thinking; when Israel retreats from the land that is theirs and hands it over to Muslims, it means that Allah has cursed them with confusion and insanity. It is also a very encouraging sign for Hamas that Allah is blessing them. Iran has called Hamas' recent victory in the Palestinian elections "a sweet surprise gift from Allah."

" The Koran actually says that Allah has given the Promised Land to the Jews. "

Since there basically is no hope for a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, at least within a foreseeable future, Israel's withdrawals will have to be unilateral. This means that Olmert and the Kadima party will provide national sovereignty to terrorists bent on the complete destruction of Israel, located within firing distance from Israel's major population centers.

The recent Israeli Nobel Prize winner, Professor Yisarel Aumann, has said that the urgency at which the government seeks to reach a settlement with the Arabs poses a great danger, and will most likely bring about the opposite. More Israeli withdrawals will, according to Professor Aumann, only lead to more bloodshed.

The Polls

The new party Kadima, started out in the polls with taking over 40 of the 120 seats in the Knesset (the Israeli parliament), making it by far the largest political party in Israel. Since then they have slowly continued to drop in popularity. However, last week after Olmert ordered the capture of some terrorists held in a Palestinian prison in Jericho in order to bring them to justice in Israel, his party's popularity soared again in the polls to 42 seats. But, things happen very quickly in Israel and during this past week Kadima has gone down in the polls to an all time low of only 33-34 seats.

" But, according to one poll, as many as 20% of the public in Israel is still undecided. This means that much can still happen. "

Kadima, which means forward in English, is a centrist party, meaning that it is neither right nor left wing. Since no political party in Israel has an absolute majority of more than 60 seats in the Knesset, any government has to be formed through a coalition of two or more parties. Olmert has ruled out forming a coalition with parties that do not support his plan of more withdrawals. This means most likely that he will form a coalition with parties on the left.

The left wing parties together with Kadima are presently predicted to get close to 60 seats. The right wing block, headed by Netanyahu, has about 53 seats. But, according to one poll, as many as 20% of the public in Israel is still undecided. This means that much can still happen.

The Nuclear Situation

Besides the issue of handing over more of the Promised Land to a terrorist organization bent on Israel's destruction, the possibility that Iran will soon have the ability to wipe out Israel with nuclear weapons is the greatest concern. Iran is continuing with its nuclear program and will very soon be beyond the point of no return of producing nuclear weapons.

Israel's first Prime Minister David Ben Gurion, decided immediately after the Holocaust in 1945 when he visited the death camps in Germany and Poland, that Israel must get nuclear weapons in order to survive. It took Israel 22 years to achieve this goal. Israel was able to produce its first nuclear bomb just before the Six Day War in 1967 , which was at that time a secret that not even the United States knew. The world was only aware that Israel was involved in a nuclear project in the Negev, but they did not know how far Israel had come to produce a bomb.

Some experts today believe that Egypt launched the 1967 war in an effort to wipe out Israel before they could achieve nuclear ability and it would be too late. The war of 1973 was never meant to destroy Israel, but only to retake what was lost in 1967. Both Egypt and Syria knew at that time that Israel already had nuclear weapons and most likely would use them if they were threatened with complete destruction. We know today that Israel was very close to use its nuclear weapons in the beginning of the war, when they were loosing heavily on both fronts. After 1973, no Arab military attack has ever been launched again against Israel. The method has been to use peace negotiations and terror. The main reason has been Israel's access to nuclear weapons.

Iran wants to change this deadlock situation in order to make it possible to wipe out Israel. They are willing to sacrifice millions of their own population in the process, stating openly that because Israel is so small they will not be able to survive a nuclear attack, whereas Iran, because of its much larger size would be able to survive a nuclear retaliation from Israel.

For decades Israel has stated that they will never accept an enemy in the Middle East equipped with nuclear weapons. Olmert has repeated the same thing in the past few weeks. The United States is presently supporting this Israeli policy, which means that some kind of military confrontation with Iran in the near future is very likely. One concern in this situation is that Ehud Olmert has no military experience.

It needs to be understood that Iran is also a severe threat to the United States. Up till now, because of an agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia, oil has always been prized in dollar. Iran, with its vast resources of oil, has declared that they are planning to open up a new independent oil market prized in Euro. The effect on the US economy would be severe. The dollar would quickly begin to loose its strength, in essence spelling the end of the United States as the number one superpower. Iran is very aware of this trump card, boldly saying that "their enemies" are ten times more dependent on them then they are on "their enemies."

" For decades Israel has stated that they will never accept an enemy in the Middle East equipped with nuclear weapons. "

If Israel should attack the nuclear plants in Iran in a preemptive strike to stop Iran's nuclear program, Hizb'allah will certainly unleash its arsenal on northern Israel, which would escalate the conflict to involve at least also Lebanon and Syria. The question is if Israel has any option to wait until Iran goes nuclear.

Isaiah 17 speaks about Damascus becoming a ruin and ceasing to be a city. "An oracle concerning Damascus: 'See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins.'" (Isa 17:1) It goes on to say in verse 4, "In that day the glory of Jacob will fade; the fat of his body will waste away." It is possible that these verses are referring to a nuclear war where also Israel will be hit. It could also refer to a conventional war. In either case this war will lead to a spiritual awakening, "In that day men will look to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel." (v 7)

Pray for the Elections

We encourage you to pray for the outcome of the elections in Israel next week. Let us call out to heaven for God's will to be done! We thank those of you who fasted during Purim. Consider spending time in fasting and prayer also this weekend. Only God knows what outcome of the elections will best serve His interests, even if we do not always understand it.

"Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning . He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you." (Dan 2:20-23)

If God speaks to you, please let us know!

•• Pray according to Daniel 2:20-23 for the elections in Israel on March 28 that God will raise up Benyamin Netanyahu as the next Prime Minister of Israel!

• Pray that all evil schemes in the media or by politicians to influence the elections will be exposed and stopped!

• Remind the Lord of his promise to defend Jerusalem and that all who tries to move her, including Israeli politicians, will be stopped! See Zech 12!

• Pray that the Spirit of God will blow with refreshing over Israel and remove spirits of apathy, disillusionment and deception, causing people to come out and vote for those parties that will not divide Jerusalem or give away more land to Islam!

• Pray according to Psalm 83 that all evil schemes to destroy Israel will be exposed and broken!

• Remind the Lord of his promise to defend Jerusalem and that all who tries to move her will be severely injured! See Zec 12!

• Pray that Islam will fall over the issue of Jerusalem and that the Muslim nations will be opened to the gospel!

God bless you as watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem!
