“Update, Thursday, August 3, 2006.”

Dear Bros & Sisters,

Here is a good update.

Today is a traditional fast day – perhaps you’d want to fast part or all of the day (thru sundown) for the emergency situation in the Mideast, that could get worse if we don’t pray. It’s possible that Syria, and Iran, could enter the attack on Israel. Ps. 83 talks about the surrounding enemies of Israel trying to destroy her. On the other hand, the West needs to thwart the Iranian nuclear abilities before it’s too late.

Remember, Israel is responding to thousands of rockets coming down on more and more of its area, from Hezbollah. Israel didn’t start this; rather, Hezbollah used the last 6 years to prepare for this, by creating bunkers and command post all thru Lebanon, while Lebanon (and Syria which controlled it) looked the other way. We need to pray for a thorough sweep of Hezbollah out of there in any fighting capability. They are spread all thru Lebanon. They hide and fight from among civilians and civilian buildings. God has good plans for Lebanon, but the terrorists are in the way. Pray for mercy, and many coming to salvation in the area. Pray for supernatural Israeli discernment between terrorists and civilians.

Maoz is helping Israelis and Lebanese seeking refuge in Israel also, if you wish to donate.

Thanks for praying and caring.

Shalom—
David

Prayer Alert for August 2

22nd DAY OF ISRAEL-LEBANON WAR

A News Service of Maoz Israel Ministries

ISRAEL FIGHTING FOR NOT ONLY ITSELF BUT ALL OF THE FREE WEST

"The Israeli army is doing the dirty job that the U.N. was supposed to have done when resolution 1559 was passed." Those were the words of former U.S. Ambassador to Morocco Marc Ginsberg today on Fox News.

Fighting a pitch battle, 10,000 Israeli troops are now on the ground in Southern Lebanon continuing to clean out town after town as Hizbullah continued to launch a record 220 rockets today into Israel, reaching as far as Beit She'an (42 miles of the Lebanese border) the farthest town to date, killing one and wounding six Israelis.

Israel now says that it will stop fighting when an effective and robust multinational military force is put into place in Southern Lebanon.

Today, IDF commandos were successful in the killing of ten and the capture of five militants in the Hizbollah eastern stronghold city of Baalbek, although none were high-ranking officials . Yet the daring mission proved that Israeli soldiers could reach far positions in Lebanon. Baalbek is about 100 kilometers north of the Litani River, that river being the boundary that Israel has set to reach in order to put a buffer zone of some 18 miles between Israel and Lebanon. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said today that more than 700 Hizbullah positions have been wiped out by the Israeli army and that great progress is being made into severely damaging their infrastructure.

Tonight begins the fast of Tisha B'Av, the day commemorating the destruction of the two temples, the expulsion of Jews from Spain and many other tragedies that have happened in the history of the Jewish people during this time period . Despite the usual fast, the Chief Rabbinate has instructed soldiers to eat in order to keep up their full strength.

It is traditional to read the book of Lamentations on this day of great mourning, and so it is that, once again, our people find themselves in yet another fight for their survival. If for no other reason, it reminds us of our total and complete dependence on God who has sustained us as a people for millennia. The one great promise in Lamentations is in chapter 3, vs. 21-23: "Therefore, I have hope. The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease. For His compassions never fail. Great is Thy faithfulness." May this scripture come to pass this year - more than ever.

PRAYER MEETING IN CARMEL CONGREGATION JUST OUTSIDE OF HAIFA

Tonight a couple of hundred people and leaders from around the country gathered together for three hours of intercession for our country. The sense is that the next 72 hours are critical before the pressure of the international community kicks in more strongly, and we prayed with great intensity for the war situation. We prayed that God would give the Israeli army a definite strong victory over the Hizbullah. If Hizbullah were to have a strong victory, it would affect the whole free world, and emboldened the Islamic forces to greater and greater feats.

We recognized that we are not fighting men, but the spirits connected to the false god of Allah. Allah is not fight Israel (only) but is fighting the God of Israel. And we recognized what we wrote above that Israel is at the forefront of the battle between the God of the Bible and the satanic spirits of Islam.

We prayed for the civilian believers in the north of Israel and the south of Lebanon. We prayed for God's mercy and protection for them and that God would give them tremendous opportunities to witness the Gospel. Many of the Messianic leaders have children in the army and we prayed much for our soldiers. We do believe that God has heard us.

David Davis, pastor of Carmel Congregation, spoke of the millions of Christians and Messianic Jewish believers praying all over the world, of which we are so thankful. He likened them to a spiritual air force. But, he said, we in Israel are like the ground forces. We must do our part in this spiritual war. Many of us as believers are fasting this fast with our nation on this 25 hour period of Tisha b'Av, from sundown today till sundown tonight. We welcome any of you who might want to join us.

CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR OUR MILITARY FORCE TO HAVE A DEFINITE VICTORY OVER HIZBULLAH. WE ASK YOUR PRAYER ESPECIALLY OVER THE NEXT THREE DAYS, WHICH ARE CRITICAL.

PRAY FOR GOD'S PROTECTION OF ALL OUR TROOPS FIGHTING, FOR OUR SOLDIERS TO PUT THEIR TRUST IN THE LORD AND FOR DIVINE REVELATION EVEN AS THEY FIGHT THIS BATTLE.

PRAY ESPECIALLY FOR OUR OWN CONGREGATIONAL SOLDIERS TO BE PROTECTED: GIL, EFFIE, RODRIGO, TAMAR, MAY, RACHEL, MELANIE, ANINA, MARCO AND JOSIE.

PRAY FOR SALVATION TO BE POURED OUT UPON THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL AND THE PEOPLE OF LEBANON. PRAY FOR THE BELIEVERS IN BOTH COUNTRIES TO BE PROTECTED BY THE HAND OF GOD.
